(1) Introduction (What is rim structure?)
The HBRP (High Burnup Rim Project) is an international project to study the rim structure observed at high burnup LWR fuel.
The mission is
- identification of conditions of the rim-structure formation (burnup and temperature),
- investigation of material properties and performance following the restructuring, such as
- thermal conductivity (thermal diffusivity and specific heat)
- gas release and material behavior at annealing,
- investigation of mechanisms of the rim-structure formation.
